After seeing Mary's public mosaic installations in Shell Lake, a member of Notre Dame Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, Joanne Stuttgen, contacted her to commission an inset altar in their remodeled "Our Lady of the Falls Grotto Shrine."  As a historical preservationist, Joanne collaborated with Mary on the project.

Mary worked on the 40x50 inch granite slab for several months, using primarily Mexican smalti glass.  In addition, she was asked to incorporate mementos that had been donated by church members for the project, including jewelry, rocks, shells, marbles, keys, etc.
